Psychology

Psychology is a subject associated with the study of the brain (thoughts, planning, judgement, memory) and how the brain affects human behaviour. In this course, students’ will be able to gain a great insight into the structure and function of the brain (such as: sensation, perception, memory) and they will be able to explain and predict human behaviour with learning theories that was once proposed by many psychologists in the past. So why do people follow fashion? Why do people obey higher authority figures? Why do people behave in a certain way? This course will help you find answers to these questions.

What is Counselling

Counselling provides professional assistance and psychological services to those who are experiencing distress, anxiety, depression, panic, and any other problems that may disturb an individual. The school counsellor is always available for students who need help managing their stress and anxiety (especially when tests and exams are approaching). Moreover, students are encouraged to visit the counsellor’s office (near the office) to discuss any issues that are distressing them. All consultation with the counsellor will be private and will be kept confidential, which means, no one other than the counsellor and the student will know of anything that was discussed.

Bullying

It is widely known that bullying is a major issue in schools and out of school. The effects of bullying can lead to depression, anxiety, loss of interest in activities, not doing homework, not attending school, loneliness and sleep disturbance. Imagine this was you who was getting bullied and you started to experience everything mentioned above. Would you be happy? Would you want to come to school? NO! Therefore, it is important to not engage in any act of bullying and to report all incidents of bullying to your teachers, coordinators or to the school counsellor.
